The 2010 Mustang is quicker and more refined than the model it replaces, and it has also been upgraded in ways you can't see or feel, unless you're in an accident. The new Stang has received a 5-Star rating for front and side collisions by National Highway Traffic Safety Association, as well as 5-Stars for roll-over performance. The top scores adds to Ford's industry leading amount of 5-Star rated vehicles.

Ford achieved the top US government top safety scores in part because of the new Mustang's stiffer chassis. The 2010 model's body structure is 31% stiffer than the 2009 model, enabling Ford engineers to create improved high strength steel body panels to protect occupants in a side impact.

The front end was given advanced crumple zone tech to absorb crash energy prior to reaching the Mustang's cockpit. Octagonal front rails designed with the aid of computer crash test simulations, gives occupants a better chance of survival in front-impact crashes. Ford's upgraded pony car also scores with standard stability control, ABS, and dual stage front airbags. Hit the jump to check out the Ford press release.
