Hi, I'm a new member from AL who has a 93 4cyl and just bought a drivetrain ( engine, tranny, engine harness w/ecu) from a 2001 Cobra and I don't know where to start. I need to know what other parts do I need to get my car running. I have access to some of the other parts off of the 2001 wrecked cobra until he salvages the body. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark. Welcome to the party. Dig in and make yourself at home. I would say that if you can get the parts, any suspension, brake, and fuel parts you can get would be helpful. The 01 Cobra is an awesome donor car, depending on how bad it was damaged. The k-member and front suspension/brakes would make things much easier. Also, grab the hydroboost assembly and the steering shaft bearing plate off the fire wall. Brake/fuel lines are nice to have. They'll go nicely on your 93. If it has the IRS and it not trashed, that makes an great upgrade, particularly over the little unit that would be in the 93. Get everything you can.

Thanks for your response Bill. I got most of the brake hardware, k member, and some other stuff. I have some questions about which a/c box and driveshaft will I use? Also I broke some of the fittings on top of the 2001 gas tank, will I have to run the return less gas line or can I run the stock fuel lines on the fox and change the fuel rails on the 2001 cobra engine ? Can a 93 5.0 fuel pump support the mod engine?

You can run the stock fox lines with the 01, assuming you aren't trying to make more than about 350 rwhp. You will have to adapt the no return system using an appropriate pressure/flow regulator. There are several good picture sets on different ways to do the AC on here.

Oh ok,Which driveshaft would I have to use the 5.0 driveshaft or the 2001 cobra driveshaft ?

The 01 cobra has an IRS. If you are using the fox rear end, use the fox shaft. If you are using the IRS, use the Cobra shaft. The shaft themselves are very similar. it is the rear yoke that is different, which basically means, pick the better shaft and install the right rear yoke.

Ok I got ya, Thanks a bunch Bill. Also hate to get on your nerves with these questions. But also does it matter which radiator I use because I have a 79 - 93 SVE fox 3 core aluminum radiator with dual fans that I hope I can use.

:) You can use either radiator. They are not exactly the same, but you will see cars on here with both kinds.

Yea, I know right. I'd love to use the cobra irs, but it's a tid bit to wide for my taste. The wheel selection is limited.

I have a 2000 gt rear end in my fox. I feel you on wheel selection! But ultimately it will end up getting irs so it' whatever.

Cool. I know it probably would be expensive, but I wish they made an aftermarket irs version for the 79-93 fox with the same width as the solid rear .

Not sure, but NORTH RACE CARS make a bracket that goes on the solid axle to retain fox track width when using the sn95 rear. Maybe they have options for irs!?

Thanks for the info, I checked and they only have that 1 option for the irs.
