Good Evening, Everyone!

My name is Eric and I'm from Aurora, CO. I have loved Foxbody Mustangs since I was just a kid (when they were new lol), but have unfortunately never had the chance to own one. I have had some GM sports cars (please don't hurt me LOL ;)) like my old 1989 Pontiac Firebird Formula and 1992 Chevrolet Camaro RS, but I don't own either of those anymore. I have just found a beautiful 1989 Fox Mustang LX 4-cylinder with an automatic transmission that I am looking to purchase to convert to my very own Modular Foxbody! The owner wants $2k for it and he is here in Colorado - a really nice guy and I am hoping he didn't sell it out from under me as he might have gotten a better offer as it has beautiful new paint on it, new headlights & taillights, new tags and everything (which is a big deal in Colorado), and it is just an all around perfect project Fox.

I am looking to purchase that one - the reason I am trying to get a former 4-cylinder is because I don't want to deprive someone who wants a Fox still powered by the beautiful SBF 5.0L 302 of their very own Fox. However, since I am looking to do a Terminator swap, I am gonna have my work cut out for me... I might actually look to do a Coyote swap instead as it seems like that is actually less expensive these days! I had found an '03 Cobra in a salvage yard here that had gotten rear-ended something terrible - totaling the car out and unfortunately destroying the rear axles, the control arms, just about everything with the chassis, but leaving that beautiful Terminator engine intact from what I can tell! Naturally, it has over 110k miles on it but if the motor and transmission (good 'ol Tremec T56!) are still intact, I might have part of my drivetrain all at once right after finding the chassis! It must be fate, right?

Anyhow, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself before going and talking more fox stuff... I am exhausted from work today but I really look forward to reading all of your replies tomorrow when I get home from my long day (I get up at 4:30am every day and usually don't get home from work until after 5:00pm). Have a great rest of your day, my friends, stay safe out there and happy driving and smiles per gallon!!

Sincerely,
Eric C.

welcome and hope you enjoy your stay.

Thank you so much, my friend! I hope to have some time to chat on the forum this weekend as the work week is always nuts for me. I am just getting home now and I've been at work since 6:00am. Phew, thank goodness tomorrow is Friday, right?

Sincerely,
Eric

Welcome! It's definitely a lot easier to do a modular swap having a complete parts car especially a Terminator, I'd say go for it if it's a good deal.

I think I am going to purchase the 1989 Mustang LX 4 cylinder. I am just a little concerned since it is an automatic currently and I will be converting it to a six speed using the T56 or even the T56 Magnum (unless I can find the T56 used in the '03/'04 Terminator Cobras of course). Do you agree that this would be a good purchase since it is extremely clean, no rust whatsoever, has new headlights and taillights, and also seems to have pretty good struts and shocks even though I will be swapping those out as well of course eventually ;).

Thanks,
Eric C.
