Hello,

I picked up a ‘79 Mercury Zephyr with no engine or trans. It’s not a Mustang but it is a Fox body. Hope that’s ok
I am swapping in a naturally aspirated 4v engine and 4r70w transmission.
Using a markviii ECM with SCT chip, crown Vic body harness and markviii engine harness.
Going to use a hydroboost and flaming river rack. Going to get the mod swap K member kit, SFCs and C/C plates from Team Z, as well as the rear suspension. Brakes will also be upgraded with 8.8 rear and sn95 spindles. 5 lugs obviously.
looking forward to reading the posts here, thanks for letting me join!

Fox Mustang SFCs will not fit on a Fairmont/Zephyr, due to the wheelbase of the F/Z being about 4 inches longer.
just a heads up

Welcome to the party. I dig the Zephers, so I'm looking forward to seeing the build. The SFCs really do depend on the brand. You'll love the Mark VIII drivetrain in that Fox. Team Z really does make some nice parts. Post pics when you get a chance.

Weather here has not been conducive to painting, cold and rainy
today is drier so going to try again.
spray paint is supposed to arrive today so maybe I’ll get there.
i know ppl here frown on black engine bays, going to try body color first.
if that ends up looking like crap, I have some stone guard black as a last resort.

I would say that if you like/want black paint in your engine bay, tell anyone that doesn't like it to pound sand. This is your car not theirs. When I see a black engine bay, I think of an old school hotrod. Variety is what makes our hobby so cool. It is what makes your Zephyr build so cool. If you went with the black, you could even tie it into a fender stripe or accent of some kind that made it integral to the build.

half the paint blew away in the wind
I’m not thrilled with it but once the stock k comes out I will be going over all of this again.
Might go black for frame rails and the rest red
