my 91 lx coupe to 97 cobra 4 valve drivetrain swap

Those stock axles are hit and miss, I've broke them on bone stock cars on drag radials and this coupe has pulled several decent wheelies on them with no issues. My new terminator build for my other coupe is starting with 31 splines from the start

question. could you post some pics or details about what you used to lift the car up with when you put the motor in? looks like some sort of chain fall. where exactly did you hook it up to?

Pretty much everyone comes in from the bottom of the car beings as u have to switch the k member anyways, you can still put the motor in from up top but you will learn theres not much to hook to or lift from on these mod motors. As far as picking up the front end I used a chain hooked to the bumper brackets and a motor hoist and lifted it up

I used my regular cherry picker for pulling motors like you would find at harbor freight or autozone, just hooked a chain around the supports and lifted it up.

Nice ri
I plan on doing a full build on my factory V8 91 lx coupe. I removed the stock 5.0 engine, wiring, transmission etc from the coupe to make room for the 4.6 liter DOHC out of the donor 97 cobra. The donor car is a 100% bone stock 84k mile car that runs and drives ok. I ditched the stock T45 5 speed transmission and plan on replacing it with a tremec 3550, a Lakewood scattershield and an aluminun driveshaft. Today is my first day of work on the donor car, I got the engine, transmission, and the K member removed as well as the hydro-boost brake setup and the complete engine harness and all underhood wiring harnesses pulled out and labeled for what I hope to be an easy install. Here are a couple of pics of the progress so far, and if the interest is here I will try to keep this thread updated. I am looking for some longtubes, imrc deletes, or a Cai for a 4 valve car if anyone has any for sale. I expect to be riding the 4 valve coupe in less than 1 month. We shall see haha.

Here is my coupe in for paint

^Notice the labeled masking tape on all the plugs, hopefully this will help as I swap it all into my coupe.

I always used an overhead beam to lift the car before my lift was installed. It worked pretty dang good that way. Now with the 2 post lift, I don't have to worry with anything at all, I push a button and the body comes off lol

Nice build! When I first swapped the terminator engine into my coupe I was pulling 1.45 60' on drag radials. Running 11.0 @124 mph. About 510 rwhp. I upgraded to a Whipple pushing 17 lbs and the stock 28 spline 95 gt axles exploded in the diff. on the starting line, the car never moved. That was a 4500 rpm launch. About 620 rwhp. It now has a fully built rear with 31 strange axles, Auburn diff. Now the whole engine is built pushing a little over 740 rwhp without the spray. Everything is doing well. You just never know how much the stock axles will take? Mine took a beating until I went over 600 rwhp.

Awesome lm almost finished with my 84 / 98 cobra procharged t56 combo. Hoping to get into 10's. Car went 11.5 with small powerdyne blow through mild 347. Full cage and drag specific suspension. Hopefully not unrealistic.
